Our Home Life

I am lucky enough to have been able to meet and marry a man who I can honestly say is my best friend. We have been together for over 6 years and married for coming up on 4 years. Dan and I met in junior year of high school, we became casual friends for a couple years and then lost touch for a while. Life took it’s course and brought us back together in the summer of 2006 when we began talking again. At the time, I was studying Sociology at UC Santa Cruz and my husband was studying Economics/Accounting at UC Santa Barbara (about 3 hours driving distance). He contends that I propositioned him one chilly Thursday night in October when I told him that I think we will get married… his reply: “maybe we should go on a date first.” In 2008 he got down on one knee in the middle of a rocky dirt field, the exact place we met, and I said yes. Our life has been crazy and busy ever since, we bought our first home together, while planning our wedding, while I finished my Masters degree in Counseling, while he studied and sat for his CPA exam. There’s always something going on, whether it be by choice or not!

We rescued two cats, Riley and Colbie who are always trying destroy our house, but we love them still. We have recently been blessed with a beautiful baby daughter in the spring of 2012. Each day with Madeline is exciting and rewarding, although sometimes can be frustrating but I feel like I am learning new things every day. It’s so amazing to watch her grow and develop. We have been spending a lot more time at home since having the little princess and it has it’s benefits but sometimes you just gotta get out for a night. We just bought a new home again a month ago and have been working on making it our own.
